fold me.

Happy Friday y'all!

Today I thought I'd share these cute paper bags.  I love the idea of turning an everyday object into something more interesting.  These are so cool!

road trip.

There is something so cute and girly about vintage caravans.  So kitsch and cute and floral and feminine!  How fun would it be to round up a couple of girlfriends and hit the road with one of these cuties in tow?

shmokin'.

I've been wondering for a while now...  Should smoking in fashion bother me?  Honestly, I've never been a fan of the ol' cancer sticks.  As an occasional (maybe twice a year?) smoker, I hate that my younger brothers smoke at the ripe old age of 17.  I hate that they are putting their health at risk in an attempt (maybe?) to be seen as older and more mature and fit in with their friends.  Both my parents have always been smokers and I have spent approximately 20 years trying to convince them both to quit.  But to no avail.  Many of my friends smoke, but I think it's safe to say that smoking is just not for me.

An ever controversial issue is the promotion of smoking in fashion.  I don't like the fact that it may promote smoking to younger audiences.  I disapprove that the creative directors may be trying to push smoking into the spotlight, conveying it as fashionable and sophisticated.

However (and I know I am being totally hypocritical here after what I have just written), I don't disaprove of the use of smoking in fashion.  I find models smoking in fashion editorials somehow effortlessly cool, unkempt, edgy even.  There is just something about Kate Moss smoking a cigarette without a top on that just appeals to me.  There's something about the rough toughness of a dirty cigarette in the mouth of beautiful model that creates a contrast that I love.

What do you think?  Do you find the rebellious nature of smoking in fashion appealing or just plain wrong?

moroccan dream.

Golly gosh it has been a long time since my last post - terribly sorry!  But I am feeling re-energized and excited about giving my blog some attention!  Well I have lots on my mind at the moment.  Namely, travel.  I am excited at the prospect of possibly doing a spot of travel in 2012 (which isn't that far off at all, you know!) and after studying, searching and scrutinizing various parts of the world from the comfort of my computer chair, my friend Leigh and I have settled on South America as our destination of choice.  So many amazing countries to explore!  BUT... I thought... as there is still another year of planning my trip and I am sure many South American related posts to post between now and then, I thought I would post a few images of another country that inspires me in so many ways...  Although it is not in my current 5-year plan (and everyone should have a 5 year plan, by the way!) to visit Morocco, it is definitely somewhere I just HAVE to visit in the next 10 years.  The textiles and architecture over there are incredible.  I can just imagine walking through a bustling little market, winding my way around in the crazy heat, oohing and ahhing over all the gorgeous fabrics and jewelry.

Until next time (and I promise, it won't be another month again),
