gillian tennant.

I have just discovered some beautiful basics from Australian designer Gilliant Tennant (via Daydream Lily).  I am always inspired by Aussie women who put their dreams into action - and that is exactly what Gillian has done.  She works from her home studio in Balmain, Sydney, creating feminine delicate pieces that would suit slip into almost any wardrobe effortlessly.  Gillian has reduced the likeliness of you seeing catching an identical outfit on someone else by making each piece in the collection limited edition.  Loving the simple styling of the shots as well as the styling of the cream gauze scarf in particular; I'm not usually a 'bow person', but I think it looks very cute and considered indeed.

dream dress.

So I wasn't planning on blogging two posts plucked from The Sartorialist straight after one another... But come on can you blame me? This dress... It... It... Takes my breath away!! The crazy tan, the incredible print, the quirky glasses the laid-back sneakers... Not to mention the vibrancy of the colours!  So cute, so casual.  Ok, a little obsessed over here.  I want.

new york, new york

I definitely have travel on the mind at the moment.  In particular, New York City.  Whilst a New York winter would be wonderful, a New York summer would be simply stunning!  I stumbled across this image of a girl frolicking in what looks like some fountains in New York and stopped for a minute and wished I was her.  She just looks so natural and genuinely happy!  Pretty sure I would be that happy stepping off the plane into the U.S of A.  Ahhh... one day!

donna wilson.

Go Donna Wilson!  Loving her ceramics, her furnishings (cushions, blankets and throws), as well as everything else in between (bed socks, tea towels and stationary)!  Very cute stuff.

big scary.

So I'm not a mega big muso or anything, but this is a band I'm really digging.  I have been to two of Big Scary's gigs now (one just last night!) and they are pretty awesome.  Big Scary are Jo Syme and Tom Iansek - who between them, play every instrument under the sun!  Drums, glockenspiels, guitars, ukuleles and vocals to name a few of the duo's talents.  Big Scary are set to tour with US's Midlake, after clocking up recent local supports with Birds of Tokyo, British India and Little Red.

project patchwork.

One of my loveliest friends, Liz, is heading Project Patchwork at the moment.  This amazing project brings people together with their needles and threads to sew beautiful quilts and is raising money this year for the Australian Cambodia Foundation.  This foundation funds an orphanage in Cambodia run by Australian Geraldine Cox, who has recently been fighting breast cancer.  This year they are making three quilts, which will be raffled off at Craft Victoria  (31 Flinders Lane, Melbourne) at 6.30pm on Monday 18th October.

I just had to repost this beautiful patch by Cat Rabbit (check out Cat's etsy store here, too!)  Whoever wins one of these stunning quilts is going to be one lucky duck!  I just think this is such a fantastic creative, collaborative project, for such an important cause.  So many wonderful artists and creative people have become involved in this project which is just such a credit to someone as talented driven as Liz.

Do yourself a favour and check out Liz's beautiful blog, here.  Well done Liz, I am so proud of you!

pretty Artizia.

I'm going to apologize in advance for this rather long post.  But I just couldn't cull any of my fave pics!  Lots of pretty pictures from the Artizia Spring/Summer 10 lookbook I found via all the mountains.  Check out Artiza's blog here too.

marc johns.

My new current illustrative obsession - Marc Johns.  He's kind of awesome.  If you're not already familiar with his work, get familiar!  His blog always showcases his most recent work, which is hilariously cute and simple and honest.  You must visit his shop. And to think, I was 4 seconds too late when I tried to purchase one of his works yesterday.  Ouchy.

macayums.

Gosh, I love having friends who cook.  Especially ones who share.  My beautiful friend Jo and I caught up for lunch today and she surprised me by bringing along a little plate of her famous macaroons (chai and choc-chai!).  I really think everyone needs their very own Jojo in their lives.  Yum!  My iPhone camera has not captured how beautiful they were!

eno henze.

My latest inspiration comes in the form of Eno Henze.  In particular, his digital series, 'Human Factor'.  So beautifully abstract and so, so, intricate.  I was trying to think what his drawings reminded me of and I came to the conclusion that they remind me of rhythm gymnastics, but maybe underwater.  Except of course these prints are obviously far bigger and more beautiful than just a piece of ribbon...  But they definitely give me that same sense of movement I think.  So gorgeous.  I have always been a sucker for large-scale artwork and colour.  Hope you enjoy these images as much as I have.
