Today, CHANEL launches their 2012 Christmas film for Nº5.  As the first ever company in the industry to use a male to advertise a women's fragrance, this is sort of a big deal.  I've been interested in the mixed reports the ad has received so far today, although I believe creating a "buzz" (whether positive or negative), can only work in the company's favour.  Personally, I love the film's unique and raw approach that leaves your thinking about it long after Mr Pitt's sweet lips have muttered that mysterious word, "inevitable"...

After it's phenomenal success in New York, I am very excited that CHANEL's 'Little Black Jacket' exhibition is making it's way to London's Saatchi Gallery this October!  I love that Karl himself has taken all the photographs in such a different and interesting concept.  For more details, click here.

Once again CHANEL continues to explore new ways to inspire and impress...

"The Galerie Courbe in the Grand Palais was recently temporarily transformed into a magical backdrop for Chanel‘s new Metiers d’art collection.  The collection, inspired by India’s Maharajas and lavish palaces, displayed tables that were set with tiers of fruits, sweets, and flowers. Models, with khol-rimmed eyes, donned jeweled tikkas down the middle of dreadlocked hair. And this is just a sliver of the many extravagant details. Check out the beautiful footage below and see how pieces from the collection came together at embroidery house Lesage and button and jewelry atelier Desrues."

The latest Chanel couture show (Fall/Winter 10/11) at the Grand Palais  has literally blown my tiny mind.  Quite incredible how and why this magnificent 12-meter golden lion was created.  The iconic lion took 4-5 months to create after Mr. Lagerfeld himself "dreamt" up the idea one night (many of Lagerfeld's set ideas come to him in dreams).  But why a lion?  The lion served as a modest homage to Coco herself; her zodiac sign was Leo, and this is a replica of the lion that stood in her own living room.

As the lion had to viewed from all angels for the show, the lion had to be absolutely flawless.  Interesting how it was created though;  30 sculptures were given a segment of the lion to replicate on a large scale, so each sculpture was left with quite an abstract piece until they put them all together in the end.

Pretty amazing stuff, no?
