We, as creative people, seem to place so much pressure on ourselves to be the most creative, the most successful, the best. The truth is though, we don't stop growing, learning, refining. We change, we improve, and so too should our designs. You cannot be the best when you are merely starting out, you can aim to be the best and you may have the potential to be the best, but ultimately, actually being the best is something you have to work bloody hard at!

3 ingredients. Low fat. Refreshing. These babies are a dream on a hot ass day.

Orange & Blueberry Pops

You will need:

1/2 cup milk (any milk will do. i like almond, vanilla soy or low fat but if you want a creamier pop go for cream.)

1 1/4 cups fresh squeezed orange juice

1/4 cup blueberries

Mix ingredients and pour into popsicle molds. Freeze for 5+ hours or until firm. Enjoy!

We've all heard about the recent riots in London. A sad and very scary time for all those near the affected areas. As an Australian who grew up in a generally peaceful community, I have never quite witnessed what I have over the past week in England. Obviously a lot of people need to get their heads screwed on right - it is scary how many angry, misguided youths there are in this city. But I really do hope that some positive can arise out of this terrible time and more focus can be put on the youth - because, quite obviously, there is a pretty big problem out there.

I love picking a cake every birthday for my mum to try and master on my special day. Provided I'm still in London next April, I guess I will have to find someone else to make me a cake... Wahh! BUT when I do find a replacement Masterchef - I know exactly which cake to choose. Introducing the Oreo Olallieberry Chocolate Layer Cake (recipe here).

Here's what it is... "A fluffy black chocolate cake layered with cocoa-olallieberry Italian meringue buttercream, studded with oreo cookie chunks, and covered in drippy dark chocolate ganache... Oh, and gold flecks on top just for a bit of diva power..."

The legendary fashion house installed three of their very own hives on it's Champs Elysées headquarters rooftop some two years ago and has just harvested the first batch of what they’re calling Belle Jardinière. A beautiful site where stylists, beauty editors, designers and generally rad women with cool careers show off their bathroom cabinets to people like me - who could only dream to own 50 Chanel polishes and 27 different perfumes! Not only do I love the fashion in fashion shows, but I do quite enjoy having a squiz at what the lucky people attending these shows receive from the postman. Dion Lee's S/S '11 collection worked with the theme of cut-out segments from structured garments - quite like the dissecting work of a surgeon, whilst the colour palette (mainly minty green and white) resembled that of the colours usually worn by hospital staff. Lee very cleverly mirrored these themes through his invitations, a box of pills (well, mints in this case) prescribed to attendees of his show. Me likey!

What a busy week!

Whilst I have been getting back into a bit of freelancing work recently, I have also been making the time to revisit my folio before heading overseas. And that means getting my mojo back. Which MEANS, becoming inspired...

I have finally gotten my ass back into scouring blogs, magazines, publications, the lot. And can I just say, The Makers have me absolutely inspired! Kind of running with the same theme as The Selby, this website showcases beautifully taken photographs of the creative work spaces of cool people that sourouned themselves with beautiful design whilst they work...

Which, my friends, leads me to my next point: It doesn't matter whether you're a jeweler, a designer, a barista or a baker, it is possible to entwine your career and with design. You can work in an inspiring space, no matter what you do. Heck, even if you're restrained to simply pinning up some inspiring images on your pinboard at work! I think it's so important to remain inspired by design, by travel, by colour, family and friends - whatever it may be, that even if your work doesn't inspire you enough - you can still surround yourself by what inspires you most. We spend over half our lives at work - so we may as well make it beautiful!

So obviously planning for my not-to future travels is pretty much the most fun 'job' in the world. I can (and kind of do) scour the internet all day, every day - looking at various cities, pubs, restaurants, hostels and attractions that I might like to one day see with my own eyes. I seem to keep being drawn to one place in particular as I trawl through the 27,000 brochures I've accumulated from various local travel agents. It is of course, the city of love... Paris (pronounced without the 's', please).

But I don't know, I kind of want to discover the more grungier side of Paris. Including the lower-key, more local bars and clubs, exhibition spaces and of course, the street art. Although there is so much street art to discover in Paris, below are some images of my long-time fav street artist Fafi* is one who's works in particular I want to track down for myself. I love her girly, sexy and colourful characters popping out from the urban backdrops on offer in France. Definitely on my 'to do' travel list.

I must firstly apologize for the lack of posts. Just when I was getting on a roll too! So much has been happening in my life lately - in the past couple of weeks I have gone from employed to not-so, put my car on the market and have lodged my ancestry visa to live and work in London Town!

I could not be more excited / anxious / petrified about the massive decision to move 24,000km away from my home, family and friends. I guess you could say I had a bit of an epiphany this month. I finally came to the realization that life really is too short to work in a job you don't enjoy, to have regrets or those "what-if?" thoughts. For me, I came to a cross-road in my life where I had never been before. After always having had a stable life for most of my life - ie. full-time study, full-time work, long-term boyfriend, still living at home, I was suddenly thrown into a world of unemployment and singleness - basically a life without commitment. So I figure if I don't make a crazy decision to move overseas now - I don't think I ever will!

Early July will bring about a whole new life for me. No car - it seems 'the Tube' will be my new best friend. None of the luxuries (including a home-cooked dinner every night and being able to afford expensive skincare) I have always been accustomed to. The inability to pick up the phone when I am feeling ill with home-sickness. No cuddles with my puppy. No instant words of reassurance from the people I love. I will have to rely on the few contacts I have in London to show me the ropes, and I alone will have to figure out a reliable source of income - not to mention finding somewhere to live! All this while trying to maintain and inspired and happy lease on life. I will prove to myself that I can do it!

Anyway I thought I'd leave you with some lovely British visuals today, with the promise of getting my 'arse' back into blogging!

Clarks have collaborated with Supreme on creating these bad boys. What Supreme has done with the highly popular model is redesigned the ankle area slightly, sloped the back, added extra laces as a hook eye. With the nubuck upper, they are available in black, grey, sand and navy blue... as well as Supreme red*. Rumour has it that they are to be released sometime in May in Japan but expected to be released in the U.S earlier (at approximately $266 USD).

Ok... I have a confession. I heart Lara Bingle. Always have, always will. I don't care what you say. Always a sucker for the blonde 'beach-chick', I generally dig her style. She always looks on trend and polished, and those teeth! That tan! I saw her walking down Chapel Street a few months ago and just couldn't help but look twice, even before I realized it was her. Maybe speeding up and parking the car so I could watch her walking up the street for longer was a bit of stalker-overkill. BUT anyway, I'm loving her editorial in this month's Oyster mag - check her out!

As previously promised, let me introduce to you to my bestie.

Kate Lancaster is not only a very dear friend to me, but she also happens to be one talented chick. Completing her final year in Fashion at RMIT in Melbourne this year, Kate was recently chosen to be the lucky first intern of Alice Euphemia's new mentoring program. The result is a capsule collection of leather clutches available in two sizes with detachable faux-fur tails, in store now.

Now, I'm sure you're all more than familiar with Alice Euphemia's cute blog and store in Melbourne, stocking some of the finest Australian fashion and jewelry available. And if you're not... Well you should be! A little birdy has told me that Alice will have a new online store up and running in the not-too-distant-future... Hallelujah it's Friday!!

I cannot wait for the weekend to begin, it could not have come soon enough! This weekend, myself and 6 girlfriends will be heading down the coast to Torquay for a girls' weekend away. I am predicting BIG breakies (umm extra serve of bacon and a hash brown on the side please) in cute cafés, lots of wine, music, mags and chill-out time. Ahh.. perfect.

Speaking of perfection... Check out these beautiful invites. I have come across alot of invitation design in my time. The following Mulberry invites for London Fashion Week do not exactly embrace a concept that is particularly ground-breaking (the origami invites have definitely been done before)... But, the invites have such a hand-crafted feel - right down to the hand-drawn leaf. The paper was created by blending the ‘ingredients’ in a huge vat, rolling it out and drying it into thick, flat sheets of beautiful paper. The print was screen-printed by hand, gold foiling was added and then folded into the origami shape before being placed into bespoke boxes. The final result - GORGEOUS.

Hi guys,

Yay, it's finally Friday afternoon! Phewf, I didn't think I'd make it to Friday afternoon in one piece! This weekend will see me participating in The Puma Love Run (you'll be happy to know I'm officially back on the road to fitness!). And hey, you never know, a potential life-partner could be running for love also (I won't hold my breath though)! I will also be attending a dear friend's birthday and spending a relaxing Sunday getting creative (I'm not sure what this 'creative' activity will be, but I'm sure I'll find something to occupy myself indoors while the weather is crappy! I seriously want a refund on the Melbourne Summer we've had this year!). Oh and I also plan to clean up my iTunes library, download some new beats and maybe make something yummy.

How inspiring are these 3 young chicks!? Hailing from Phillip Island, Victoria, Claire Gorman, Clare Plueckhahn and Fran Derham have set their sights high and created First Love, a documentary that follows the three girls chasing their dream of competing in a surf competition in Hawaii. First Love has been screened at Sundance, the Hawaii Film Festival and just recently picked up 'Best Documentary' and 'Best emerging film maker' at the X Dance Action Sports and Film Festival and will be released this Valentine's Day.

Ok so I may be a little late off the mark, but yesterday I finally explored the super cute Typo for the first time! I have heard so much about this cute little store but had never visited it for myself. Firstly, let me say - the cards were soo cute! And 3 for $10... Umm bargain! There was a massive selection of typographic-based stationary, canvases, wooden laser cut-outs and sooo much more for such reasonable prices. I was in stationary heaven. After the recent devastating floods, the people of Queensland are in need of our support! So many lives, land and homes, businesses and so much more have been lost and it is up to the rest of us to help restore their communities.

Art 4 Heart is a collaborative Art auction initiated by the amazing Kelly Smith and Beth Emily, which will run from 18th - 27th January. Working to help raise funds for the Queensland Premiers Flood Relief Appeal, some very talented Aussie artists have kindly donated a wonderful assortment of illustrations, prints, jewellery and much more to auction away. This is a great opportunity to purchase a beautiful artwork and donate to those in need at the same time.

There will be two auctions held (see the timetable for more details). If you just want to donate, even the smallest amount helps.

Our thoughts are with you Queensland!

What I am I hanging out to buy next pay day? One of these beautiful silk laser-cut scarves by Andéol by textile designer Emilie Cacace of ThinkPositive prints. I am a sucker for fluros, neons and vibrant colours and that is precicly what Emilie's latest collection offers! The colours and prints featured take inspiration from indigenous textiles from Sri Lanka, Indonedia and Inda. They remind me of summer, traveling and icy-poles. And do you know what is super cool about Emilie's latest campagne? She actually traveled to Guatemala to shoot her scarves on the locals.

This company's websites have sat in my bookmarks for ages - I have been dying to post about them!
Who are they? Well they go by the name CONFETTISYSTEM and they are kind of a big deal. Friends Nicholas Anderson and Julie Ho have developed an incredible business working in an amazing partnership as artists, stylists and designers.

Using simple materials such as tissue paper, cardboard and silk, CONFETTISYSTEM "transforms interactive objects that create a point of focus, where memories are made and a spontaneous collaboration with the viewer is sparked."

CONFETTISYSTEM art direct and create installations and sets for the fashion and music industry and also welcome custom design work More recently, they have also launched a cute jewlery range. Is there anything these guys can't do? CONFETTISYSTEM's client list runs for miles and include United Bamboo, Opening Ceremony, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Pop magazine.

Totally inspiring, they are the most gorgeous company going around! They literally incorporate everything I love in design... Colour, metallics, texture and paper! Such a great business concept, I'm sure no day would ever be boring for those two. Who wouldn't love to create sets out of paper for fashion shows, editorials and exhibitions?
